So me and my Aloe Bar visited another fitness class, this time it was a Ladies Only Boxing class with an amazing instructor called Katy Horlick. She is an MMA fighter and goes by the name of “Bam Bam” she fights at the fly weight level and has won many of her fights, so if you go to her class she is going to teach you correct technique as well as push you. I used to train in Muy Thai myself years ago but it has been a long time since I last trained and boy did it hurt!!! My poor lungs were gasping for breath and felt like they were going to burst at times, but I loved every minute of it. We warmed up by skipping with a few burpees thrown in, then it was a body weight circuit and then we partnered up and one of us out of the partnership was punching whilst the other held the pads. This always makes your brain work to remember the combo of punches, the rounds were anywhere between 30 seconds and 2 minutes and even though that doesn’t seem like long it sure did when you were the one with the gloves on! I was training with a lovely girl called Portia who goes all the time and she was really helping me to keep going and not give up when it was hurting. By the end of the session, I felt amazing, all of the days stresses were gone and my muscles really felt like they had had an amazing workout. I would highly recommend this class to any lady wanting to either have a go for the first time or like me, come back and train again. The class was really friendly and as it was all ladies, there was no need to feel intimidated at all. The classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.00 p.m. at Gym 13, 2-3 Church Rd, Rhos on Sea, Colwyn Bay LL28 4YX.
